Homebuilders Turn to Remodeling
Audra Morales and her husband, Damian, are adding a family room and a master suite to their Flagstaff home.
They had been trying for the last two years to get the work done, but none of the contractors they contacted had the time to do the work.
They received bids of $160,000 to $180,000 to do the work, which the contractors said would take some time because of the other new-home work they had.
This year, that changed, Morales said.
"It just seems construction in general has slowed down quite a bit," she said. "Now is a good time for remodels."
Although she preferred not to divulge the new bid they received, she did say it was considerably lower than what they had been originally quoted.
