Chrysalis Awards ’08

The 15th Annual Chrysalis Awards were presented on June 11th in Atlanta. This year, the winners were selected from over 500 entries. Chrysalis is made up of both regional and national awards in each category. A winner is picked from each of the four regions and those four regional winners compete for the national award in the category.

In addition, two companies this year received the Decade of Excellence Award for winning a Chrysalis Award in each of 10 different years. The Bainbridge Crew of Charlotte, N.C., and Home Rebuilders in Atlanta, Ga., received the highest honor that Chrysalis bestows.

Judges this year were writers and editors from Better Homes & Gardens, Woman’s Day Special Interest Publications, Southern Living and Houseplans.com. The judging criteria included: use of materials, best design, successfully overcoming challenges, and overall benefits to the existing structure.

“From the number and quality of the entries this year, you would never know that we are in a challenging economy,” says Ken Kanline, director of the awards. “There is still a lot of excellent work being done, reflecting the fact that top-quality companies will always be in demand regardless of economic conditions.”

The 2008 winning projects will appear on the Chrysalis Web site, www.chrysalisawards.com, beginning in late June, along with all other winning projects since 1998.
